Getting there and the Alicante terminal
The ferry departs from the passenger terminal at the port of Alicante, right next to the city centre - just a few minutes from the railway station and the Explanada de España. By car, follow the signs within the port area to the terminal for North Africa traffic; the ferry company confirms the exact berth for your departure with your ticket.
Check-in and travel documents
Algeria is outside the Schengen area: you need a valid passport and a visa applied for in advance, a national ID card is not accepted. Expect passport and customs checks at the port, plus a vehicle check if you're driving - allow plenty of time. The check-in deadline that applies to your booking is printed on your ticket.
On board the Cracovia
Nouris Elbahr Ferries operates the Cracovia, a 180-metre ro-pax ferry built in 2001 with space for 658 passengers. On board there are cabins with private bathrooms, restaurants and cafés, a duty-free shop, a cinema and play areas for children. A cabin is worth booking for the roughly 13-hour crossing.
Vehicle, motorhome and pets
The Cracovia carries around 90 cars plus freight; register your vehicle when booking. Arrival in Algiers and onward travel
The ferry docks at the Gare Maritime on the Mole El Djazair, right in the capital and just a few minutes from the railway station. After passport and customs checks you can reach the centre on foot or by taxi; with your own vehicle you're straight onto Algeria's road network.

The Alicante - Algiers route is one of the newest links between Spain and Algeria: since late 2024, Nouris Elbahr Ferries, Algeria's first private ferry company, has run the Cracovia from the Costa Blanca to the Algerian capital. The crossing takes around 13 hours.
