About Corsica Linea
Corsica Linea is a French ferry company based in Ajaccio, with operational hubs in Marseille and Sète. It was formed in 2016 as successor to the insolvent state ferry company SNCM (Société Nationale Maritime Corse Méditerranée) and began operations on 3 May 2016 with six ships taken over from it. Today Corsica Linea employs around 1,500 people, 1,200 of them seafarers, making it the largest employer of French seafarers in the Mediterranean; its ships sail under the French flag on the first register. Its core business is the public-service contract connecting Corsica (Ajaccio, Bastia, L'Île-Rousse, Propriano), alongside routes to Algeria and Tunisia.
Ships and fleet
The fleet comprises nine ships. A Galeotta, Pascal Paoli, Vizzavona, Capu di Muru, Paglia Orba and Capu Rossu serve the Corsica routes; the Jean Nicoli, the Méditerranée and the Danielle Casanova are assigned to the Maghreb routes. For the 2026 Algeria season, Corsica Linea is also chartering La Méridionale's Kalliste for 26 additional crossings. On board there are cabins for two to four people with private bathroom, reclining seats in lounges, restaurants and snack bars with guaranteed halal options, outdoor decks and WiFi in several tiers.
Routes to Algeria
Corsica Linea sails Marseille - Algiers year-round, an overnight crossing of around 22 hours. In its summer programme, routes from Sète to Béjaïa and Skikda are added - Sète is the first mainland port the company serves besides Marseille. From Marseille it also sails to Béjaïa and Skikda. For the 2026 Algeria season, crossings are bookable from 16 June to 15 September; check the timetable for exact dates.
Check-in, vehicles and pets
For Algeria, Corsica Linea requires a valid passport, including for children; depending on nationality, a visa applied for in advance is also required, and anyone refused entry travels back at their own expense. Unaccompanied minors need an exit authorisation on international routes. Departure and check-in times are sent by email and printed on the travel document; because of passport, customs and security checks, you should allow plenty of lead time. Cars, motorbikes and motorhomes travel on board; some vehicle types need customs clearance for Algeria. Pets travel exclusively in the on-board kennels, which you reserve when booking; cabins, lounges and restaurants are off-limits to animals, you bring your own padlock for the kennel, and dogs must stay on a lead.
