Getting there and the Sète terminal
Corsica Linea departs from Sète at the Gare Maritime Orsetti, right in the city's commercial port (2-124 Avenue du Maréchal Juin, 34200 Sète). By car you reach the port via the A9 motorway between Montpellier and Perpignan; without a vehicle, city buses run from the train station to the port, and a shuttle connects the port with Montpellier-Méditerranée airport.
Check-in and border formalities
Corsica Linea sends you the departure and check-in times by email and on your travel document. Because Algeria is outside the Schengen area, passport, customs and security checks apply - so allow plenty of time, and even more if you're travelling with a vehicle. The operator requires a valid passport for Algeria, including for children; depending on nationality, a visa applied for in advance is also needed. Minors travelling without a guardian need an exit permit on international routes.
On board the Jean Nicoli
On the Algeria lines, Corsica Linea deploys the Jean Nicoli, the Méditerranée and the Danielle Casanova; on Sète - Skikda it's the Jean Nicoli. For the night, book a cabin for two to four people or a reclining seat in the lounge. The restaurant and snack bar guarantee halal dishes, and there are also outdoor decks for relaxing and WiFi in several tiers.
Vehicle, motorhome and pet
Cars, motorbikes and motorhomes travel on the vehicle deck, which stays closed during the crossing. Certain vehicle types need a customs permit for Algeria - check this before you leave, with a consulate or customs office. What applies for the temporary import is covered in the guide Motorhome. On Corsica Linea, pets travel exclusively in the on-board kennel, not in cabins or lounges: you register your animal when booking, bring your own padlock for the kennel, and keep your dog on a lead. Arrival in Skikda and onward travel
Skikda lies on the coast in north-eastern Algeria. After docking you go through passport and customs control; with your own vehicle you can reach Constantine inland and the coast as far as Annaba via the road network, or take a taxi into town if you're on foot.

Corsica Linea opens bookings for the Algeria season in advance; for 2026, crossings are bookable from 16 June to 15 September. The booking window shows the price for your date, which depends on season, cabin and vehicle; sailing dates are listed in the timetable.

The Sète - Skikda route is Corsica Linea's summer line to eastern Algeria: from the Gare Maritime Orsetti in Sète it's around 21 to 24 hours across 760 kilometres of Mediterranean to Skikda. The operator runs the connection as a seasonal service from mid-June to mid-September with individual sailings, using the Jean Nicoli.
