Everything about the Alicante - Oran route with Nouris Elbahr Ferries: getting to the passenger terminal in Alicante, travel documents, the Cracovia on board, bringing a vehicle, and arrival at the Gare Maritime in Oran.
Getting there and the Alicante terminal
The ferry departs from the passenger terminal at the port of Alicante, right next to the city centre - just a few minutes from the railway station and the Explanada de España. By car, follow the signs within the port area to the terminal for North Africa traffic; the ferry company confirms the exact berth for your departure with your ticket.

Check-in and travel documents
Algeria is outside the Schengen area: you need a valid passport and a visa applied for in advance, a national ID card is not accepted. Expect passport and customs checks at the port, plus a vehicle check if you're driving - allow plenty of time. The check-in deadline that applies to your booking is printed on your ticket.
On board the Cracovia
Nouris Elbahr Ferries operates the Cracovia, a 180-metre ro-pax ferry built in 2001 with space for 658 passengers. On board there are cabins with private bathrooms, restaurants and cafés, a duty-free shop, a cinema and play areas for children. A cabin is worth booking for the roughly 14-hour crossing.
Vehicle, motorhome and pets
The Cracovia carries around 90 cars plus freight; register your vehicle when booking. For temporary import into Algeria you need the vehicle registration document, driving licence and green card insurance - everything else is covered in the Motorhome guide. Bringing a pet is something to confirm with the ferry company in advance; entry rules are summarised in the Dog and pet guide.
Arrival in Oran and onward travel
The ferry docks at the Gare Maritime in the port of Oran (Rue du 20 Août), around two kilometres from the city centre. After passport and customs checks, a taxi gets you into the centre within minutes; with your own vehicle you can explore the whole of Western Algeria from Oran.

Alicante - Oran
From the Costa Blanca to Oran
The Alicante - Oran route links the Costa Blanca with Algeria's second-largest city. Nouris Elbahr Ferries, the country's first private ferry company, has run it with the Cracovia since late 2024; the crossing takes around 14 hours.
Because the ship works a rotation between Marseille, Algiers, Alicante and Oran, this route has selected departures rather than a fixed weekly schedule - check the timetable for your date. Oran welcomes you at the Gare Maritime in the port, only around two kilometres from the centre.
